The Institute for Research on Extraordinary Experiences is dedicated to the study of currently unexplainable human experiences.
INREES seeks to sensitize mental health professionals, medical doctors, therapists, and caregivers in general to the extraordinary experiences reported by a great number of people. Their testimonies involve visions qualified as supernatural, inexplicable physical or psychic phenomena, intense near death experiences, communication or encounters with non-physical entities or spirits, and psycho-spiritual transformations. This list in not exhaustive.
The goal of INREES is to establish a network of professional correspondents who are well informed on unexplainable experiences and want to share their observations and clinical knowledge, and distinguish the pathological from the non-pathological in these phenomena. These practitioners could thus contribute to a better understanding of the scope and nature of such experiences in the population and help address the real need of witnesses for listening and accompaniment.
INREES will allow for the centralization of knowledge and initiate research in these areas as well as assist people who often must face these unexplainable phenomena on their own.
The association has no preconceived position on these experiences. The unjustified skepticism which witnesses or “experiencers” often encounter can be a cause of profound distress for them and can lead to serious consequences. The men and women who undergo these sometimes difficult or traumatic experiences deserve our support. INREES thus provides a platform of advice and support.
